Ellie and the Sitters' Club

Ellie and the Sitters' Club
"Here's what our club is about," said Maya, passing Ellie the star badge. "We look after little ones, and we look after each other." Ellie pinned it on and felt taller. Her very first job was easy: one toddler, one plum, one hamster called Nutmeg. Then the cage door swung open, and Nutmeg was gone.
Ellie breathed slowly and made a plan. "Sticky feet leave footprints," she whispered. Her friends followed a trail of tiny plum-purple prints behind the sofa, and there sat Nutmeg, cheeks fat with stolen fruit. They cleaned every print, read a story, and by lamplight Ellie wrote in the club book: *Problem solved. Together.* Goodnight, brave sitter.
A badge, a clipboard, and one runaway hamster. Ellie learns that the best clubs solve problems together. Sleep well, little sitter.
